Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading or using Root Run (the "Game"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Game. Root Run is owned and operated by Wandering Root Studios.

2. Real-World Safety & Conduct (The "Explorer's Code")

Root Run is a GPS-based game that requires movement in the real world. By playing, you agree to the following:

• No Trespassing: You must not enter private property, restricted areas, or any location where you do not have a legal right to be.
• Situational Awareness: You agree to remain aware of your surroundings at all times. Do not play while driving or in any situation where your full attention is required for safety.
• Obey Local Laws: You are responsible for complying with all local traffic, park, and safety laws.
• Safety Guard Bypass: Any attempt to bypass the Game's AI-powered safety guards, geofencing, or speed-locks is a violation of these terms and will result in an immediate account ban.

3. In-App Purchases & Virtual Goods

• Nature of Goods: You may purchase virtual items (e.g., items, cosmetics). These are "Virtual Goods" and have no real-world monetary value. They cannot be redeemed for fiat currency.
• Limited License: You do not "own" these items. You are granted a limited, revocable license to use them within the Game.
• Payments & Refunds: All purchases are handled via the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. All sales are final. Refund requests must be directed to the respective App Store platform.
• Forfeiture: If your account is banned for safety violations or trespassing, you forfeit all Virtual Goods and balance without compensation.

4. User-Generated Content & Landmarks

If you contribute to "World Trees" or participate in social landmark features:

• License: You grant Wandering Root Studios a perpetual, royalty-free license to display and use that content within the Game ecosystem.
• Conduct: You may not physically or digitally block other players from accessing a real-world landmark. "Griefing" or sabotaging collaborative growth is grounds for account restriction.
• Relocation: We reserve the right to move or remove in-game landmarks or gardens if the real-world location is deemed unsafe or inaccessible.

5. Maintenance & "Soft Launch" Disclaimer

As the Game is currently in a launch and debugging phase, Wandering Root Studios reserves the right to modify, reset, or "re-balance" the Game ecosystem at any time. We are not liable for the loss of virtual plants, progress, or items due to software bugs, server maintenance, or world resets.

6. Disclaimer of Professional Advice

While Root Run utilizes real-world weather and botanical data, it is a game and not a professional agricultural or survival guide. We make no guarantees regarding the accuracy of weather data or the safety/edibility of any real-world plant species mentioned in-game.

7. Disclaimer of Liability (The "Play at Your Own Risk" Clause)

Wandering Root Studios is not responsible for any property damage, personal injury, or death that occurs while playing Root Run. You acknowledge that real-world exploration involves inherent risks (e.g., uneven terrain, weather, traffic). You play entirely at your own risk.

8. Account Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at our sole discretion, without notice, for any violation of these terms—specifically regarding safety violations, trespassing reports, or IAP fraud.

9. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, without regard to conflict of law principles.
